SERVICE PROJECTS

Adopt-a-Family
This committee helps meet the needs of one or more families  from the community with food, clothing, holiday meals and more.

Helping Hands:  This committee seeks out and staffs opportunities to volunteer in the community for a variety of organizations and events. Some past volunteer activities they have coordinated volunteers for are the Edwardsville Art Fair, the D.A.R.E Car Show, assist the Main Street Community Center with food box deliveries, ring the bell at Salvation Army collection sites, Scouting for Food, National Night Out, Restore Decor, Watershed Nature Center, Sleep in Heavenly Peace.

Junior Juniors:
This committee organizes volunteer efforts to work with younger women and children in the community, including potential mentoring opportunities, volunteering with our own children, and creating lasting memories with community youth.

Sustainability:
This committee coordinates eco-friendly efforts and opportunities, including Adopt-A-Highway clean-up, within our local community.

Community Recognition:
  • Loni Hansel Community Enrichment Award
Since 1988, the JSC has honored individuals whose time and dedication have made a difference in the lives of those in the Edwardsville and Glen Carbon communities. Originally named the Community Enrichment Award, the name was changed several years ago to honor a beloved JSC member,  Loni Hansel,  who unexpectedly passed away in 2011. Loni joined the JSC in 1970,  and for over 40 years, her devotion made a big impact in the lives of those in our community.
  • Scholarship
We are committed to continuing education and to the development of strong young women in our communities. Thus, the Junior Service Club awards one scholarship to a qualifying high school female senior who plans to continue her education at a college, university, business, or vocational school. The scholarship recipient receives $5,000, paid to the student’s account at her school of choice.

Signature Project
This is a special project that the club picks to work on over a period of time. Or first signature project was the Boundless Playground in Township (Airplane) Park. Click here for more information.
Our most recent signature project was the teen center called "The Garage" at R.P. Lumber Center in Edwardsville. Click here for more information.
