SERVICE PROJECTS
Adopt-a-Family
This committee helps meet the needs of one or more families from the community with food, clothing, holiday meals and more. Glen Ed Pantry The Junior Service Club contributes both financial and volunteer support to the Glen Ed Panty by assisting with canned food drives and also with the Christmas Toy Sorting Event. Helping Hands: This committee is new to the 2019-2020 year. They will manage Adopt-a-Highway (4 times/year), staff the Edwardsville Art Fair, and explore other service project needs in the community. This new committee selects projects that collectively appeal to the club and can include our children for exposure to service opportunities (when possible), and have a large enough pool of people to staff such projects. Loni Hansel Community Enrichment Award Since 1988, the JSC has honored individuals whose time and dedication have made a difference in the lives of those in the Edwardsville and Glen Carbon communities. Originally named the Community Enrichment Award, the name was changed several years ago to honor a beloved JSC member, Loni Hansel, who unexpectedly passed away in 2011. Loni joined the JSC in 1970, and for over 40 years, her devotion made a big impact in the lives of those in our community. Meals-on-Wheels JSC members deliver meals to shut-ins during the month of December through the Main Street Community Center. Signature Project This is a special project that the club picks to work on over a period of time. Our first signature project was the Boundless Playground in Township Park.
