JSC Boundless Playground - Every Child!
Every Ability! Everywhere!
The JSC Boundless Playground was built on the weekend of April 19, 2013 with the help of the Edwardsville/Glen Carbon community. The playground is located in Township Park (Airplane Park) at 6364 Center Grove Rd, Edwardsville, IL. 62025. This was a Signature Project of the JSC and funds were raised for 3 years prior to completion.
Nationally, an estimated six million children - more than one in ten - have a disability that makes it difficult or impossible to play on a traditional
playground. Boundless Playgrounds™ builds inclusive playgrounds that allow children with and without disabilities to play together in an accessible and nurturing play environment. Additionally, Boundless Playgrounds™ also help millions of parents, grandparents and caregivers with a disability or limited mobility the opportunity to play with their loved ones.
At first glance, Boundless Playgrounds™ look like traditional playsets, but there are subtle changes that have been made so everyone can play at his or her own highest level of ability.
• every child can reach the highest play deck
• play structures configured to support children's development
• universally accessible pathways and surfacing
• cozy spots where everyone can gather
• equipment like swings and bounders with back support
• elevated sand tables and activity panels where children of all abilities can play together
• sensory-rich activities that let the imagination soar - everyone shines!
Boundless Playgrounds™, Inc. is the nation's leading nonprofit developer of truly inclusive playgrounds where children - and adults - of all abilities can play and learn together in a fun and welcoming environment.
