Online BiddingOnline bidding will provide bidder with the following benefits
*Proxy bid: pick the highest amount you are willing to pay for an item and the system will keep you on top of bidding until someone beats your proxy bid. (Example: An items starting bid is $10 but you are willing to spend $50 on that item. Put in a proxy bid of $50 and the system will start your bid at $10. When someone bids $20 the system automatically increases your bid to $20 outbidding the other person. The system will continue to do this until the other person outbids your $50 proxy bid) |
Pre-bidding and online bidding will begin a few days before the event. When pre-bidding closes the high bid will be the beginning bid the evening at the event. When online bidding closes, bidders will be notified that they have won the item via email.
Frequently Asked QuestionsQ: What is pre-bidding?
A: Pre-bidding allows guests to do just that...pre-bid on items they are interested in before the event. The highest bid at the time pre-bidding is closed with be the beginning bid the night of the event. Q. What is online bidding? A: Online bidding permits guests to bid using their smart phone, tablet device, or one of the kiosks at the event to place a bid on an item. Your bids will occur in real time which means you don't have to stop what you're doing to check on your items or to place a new high bid. Q: I don't want to participate in pre-bidding. What do I do then? A: Bid sheets will be available for items the night of the event so you will be able to start bidding as usual once you are checked in. Q: I don't want to participate in online bidding. A: Please be aware that those items that are marked for online bidding only will not have bid sheets. You don't have to participate in online bidding, but you won't have the opportunity to bid on the select items otherwise. Q: My spouse/significant other and I don't want to have different bid numbers for the silent auction. How is this handled? A: You will be able to designate one additional bidder whom you wish to be able to use your number. This person can be added at the door if you don't register before the event Q: Do I have to register online for pre-bidding or online bidding? A: Yes, you will have to register prior to pre-bidding. We will need your email address to be entered into the system before you are permitted to register as a bidder. Q: I am planning on pre-bidding but I may be late to the event. How do I ensure my bids are still the highest? A: If you are bidding on Online Only Items, no worries. You will be able to continue to bid on your items without interruption until the Online Bid section has closed. You don't have to be present or checked in to bid online. Once Pre-bidding has closed you will need to be present to write your bids on the bid sheets. You are welcome to ask a friend to continue bidding on an item for you but JSC will not be responsible for bids made under your bid number the night of the event. Q: Who has access to my bid number? A: You and the computer. In all seriousness, we are using a secure database that issues bid numbers and only you, a handful of JSC volunteers, and your additional bidder (provided you designated one) will have your bid number. If you give your bid number out to anyone else that is entirely up to you and JSC will not be responsible for bids made under your bid number. |
